CANCELLED. Hounds Easter Parade

Monday 13 Apr 2020

by Shanesmum

Updated: Monday 16 Mar

Calling all Greyhounds - we will be having a hounds Easter Parade in the sand run on Bank Holiday Monday and we would love you to take part.

Get your Mums & Dads to get creative with your Easter Bonnets - and they can join in the fun too by wearing their own Easter headgear if they want.

The event runs from 11.00am to 2.00pm - the parade will take place at 12 noon.

"In your Easter Bonnet, with all the frills upon it

You'll be the grandest Greyhound in the Easter Parade"

We will also have a Doggy Dip tub for you to have a snuffle in, and for your humans there will be a raffle, refreshments and Daybreaks merchandise for sale.

We hope to see lots of you for a fun afternoon - keep your paws crossed for some good weather!

Due to the current concern over the corona virus, and after much discussion, we have taken the sad decision to cancel the Hounds Easter Parade.

This is so very disappointing for us all,but we hope that everyone will understand the reasons behind this decision.

We really appreciate and value your support, and hope that you will be able to join us for our rearranged events in the future.

Please keep an eye on the website for further information and don't hesitate to contact me or the kennels if you have any queries.

I have had a couple of enquiries about exactly what is required to be in the Parade, so just to clarify - you & your Hound can sport either an Easter "bonnet" or full Easter costume, the possibilities are endless and the choice is yours.

We will gather in the sand run, then have a lovely parade around the perimeter to the tune of "Easter Bonnet", whilst our Judge watches us go by and does his best to select the category winners (don't envy him that task, I would give a prize to everyone!!).

Remember, it's light hearted and all for fun - which I am sure you will realise when you see me in my costume!!!

Fingers & paws crossed for some good weather so we can have a lovely afternoon. x

So - I have just finished ordering items for my costume (via Amazon Smile of course to support Daybreaks Trust!). I am determined to take part in the parade as I do love a show!!

The Parade has now got a Judge who will be awarding a prize to the "Most Handsome Boy", the "Prettiest Girl" and the "Best Family Group". I'm glad its not me having to judge as I just couldn't do it - all the boys are handsome and all the girls are pretty so they should all win!! It's all for fun though, and all to help raise funds for our gorgeous residents.

So get those creative juices flowing and enter your hound in the Parade, and join in yourselves too (so I am not the only hooman looking silly!!).
